In this guide, we will walk you through the process of installing a WordPress installation on your website. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced user, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to get started.

As you can see from the image, this is all default values, you can change these however you see fit. Just make sure you remember them when you need to log in.
If you leave any values blank, they are randomly generated. No need to panic.
Below is the guide for in case things don’t go to plan and you need to manually install it. Something that shouldn’t happen, but we’ve seen everything, it does. If the above step has worked, you can skip to step 6.
Step 1a: Check Server Requirements #
Before installing WordPress, it’s important to make sure that your server meets the minimum requirements. Here are the basic requirements:
– PHP version 7.3 or greater
– MySQL version 5.6 or greater, or MariaDB version 10.1 or greater
– HTTPS support (recommended for security reasons)
You can usually find this information in your web hosting control panel. If your server does not meet these requirements, you may need to upgrade your hosting plan or contact your hosting provider for assistance.
Step 2: Download WordPress #
To install WordPress, you will need to download the latest version from the official WordPress website. Visit [wordpress.org](https://wordpress.org/) and click on the “Get WordPress” button. This will download a zip file to your computer.
Step 3: Create a Database #
WordPress requires a database to store your website’s content. You will need to create a new database for your WordPress installation. Most hosting providers offer a control panel, such as cPanel or Plesk, where you can create databases easily.
Here are the general steps to create a database:
1. Log in to your hosting control panel.
2. Look for the “Databases” or “MySQL Databases” section.
3. Create a new database and take note of the database name, username, and password.
Step 4: Upload WordPress Files #
After downloading WordPress and creating a database, it’s time to upload the WordPress files to your server. There are a couple of ways to do this, but the most common method is using an FTP client.
Here’s how you can upload the WordPress files using an FTP client:
1. Extract the zip file you downloaded earlier.
2. Open your FTP client and connect to your server.
3. Navigate to the directory where you want to install WordPress (usually the root directory or a subdirectory).
4. Upload all the extracted WordPress files to the server.
Step 5: Configure WordPress #
Once the files are uploaded, you can proceed with the WordPress installation. Open a web browser and enter the URL of your website. You will see the WordPress installation screen.
Follow these steps to configure WordPress:
1. Choose your language and click on the “Continue” button.
2. On the next screen, you will be prompted to enter your database information. Fill in the database name, username, password, and database host (usually “localhost”).
3. Click on the “Submit” button to proceed.
4. WordPress will now connect to your database and set up the necessary tables. Once the installation is complete, click on the “Run the installation” button.
5. On the next screen, you will be asked to provide a title for your website, create an admin username and password, and enter your email address. Fill in this information and click on the “Install WordPress” button.
6. WordPress will now install and set up your website. Once the installation is complete, you will see a success message.
Step 6: Log in to WordPress #
After the installation is complete, you can log in to your WordPress dashboard. To access the dashboard, go to the login page by entering “/wp-admin” at the end of your website’s URL (e.g., www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin).
Enter the admin username and password you created during the installation process and click on the “Log In” button. You will now have access to the WordPress dashboard, where you can start customizing your website, installing themes and plugins, and creating content.

Now, you can start building your website, publishing content, and exploring the wide range of features that WordPress has to offer.
